A makerspace open to all members of the Vassar community. As part of Academic Computing Services, the Innovation Lab seeks to support and promote teaching and learning in emerging technologies with an emphasis on digital design and fabrication.

Design Studio
ATTENTION: The Design Studio will be closing on May 10, 2025 indefinitely due to the construction of the new Learning Commons.

Geospatial Mapping at Vassar
Vassar maintains two computer laboratories (the GIS Lab in Ely Hall and the SciVis Lab in Mudd-Chemistry) equipped with the latest versions of Esri ArcGIS Desktop, Quantum GIS (or “QGIS”), and Google Earth Pro for geospatial mapping lessons and applications. The Earth Science and Geography Department also maintains a set of tablet computers for moblie GIS applications.

A special set of servers in the Computing Center, linked together to provide a flexible and powerful computing workspace. Taking advantage of the tools and data other colleges are sharing right now! Running Linux and Python, a ton of free, open source software tools are available to run for many types of creative research.
